Renault Kangoo Van Maxi and Trafic Phase 3 pricing
Rounding off the complete renewal of its van range, Renault has now confirmed UK pricing and specification for its new long wheelbase Kangoo Van Maxi, plus the facelifted version of its best-selling light commercial vehicle, Trafic Phase 3. Both new ranges are available to order, ahead of the official launches of the former on 4 June and the latter on 9 July.
New Kangoo Van Maxi – third model in Renault’s compact van range
Becoming the first marque to offer a range of three distinct bodystyles in the compact van segment, Renault is launching a new long wheelbase version of Kangoo Van, called Maxi, in standard panel and Crew Van guises.
The newcomer is available in five versions, costing £550 more than the equivalent standard wheelbase Kangoo Van with the same engine, from £12,590 to £13,590, excluding VAT and on-the-road charges. The latest additions offer a third larger load capacity than their smaller sibling - 4m³ in two-seat form (rising to 4.6m³ with folding passenger seat), plus a payload of 800kg. In five-seat Crew Van form, this same load capacity remains when the rear seat bench and passenger seat have been folded. With the luggage retention net in place and the rear three seats upright, the five-seat version offers a load volume of 1.1 m³ up to the height of the rear seats, with a slight fall of 60kg in payload.
Kangoo Van Maxi, the third model in Europe’s best-selling compact van range, retains the impressive core equipment specification of the current Compact and Kangoo Van models. In entry-level LL form, this includes 2x15W radio CD MP3 with fingertip remote control and aux point, ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters, remote central locking and deadlocking and full steel bulkhead.
Upgrading to the second trim level, LL+, offers 2x20W radio CD MP3 with fingertip remote control and RCA connection, Carminat TomTom satellite navigation and central storage console and armrest between the front seats.
As a result of the extended wheelbase, a new Crew Van version of Kangoo Van also debuts in the UK, in a single LL21 dCi 85 version, costing £13,390 excluding VAT. Offering a load capacity of up to 4.6m³, the multi-purpose five-seater benefits from twin unglazed side loading doors, protective luggage net and two further floor-mounted load anchorage points, taking the tally to eight.
Each version of the new Kangoo Van Maxi can be specified with a wide variety of options. Among the most notable are auto lights and wipers, Bluetooth, climate control, cruise control, rear curtain airbag, swivelling bulkhead, speed limiter, folding passenger seat, rear parking sensors and Carminat TomTom satellite navigation. All prices quoted exclude VAT.
Two variants of the 1.5-litre diesel engine, in 85 and 105hp, are available across five versions of the full Kangoo Van Maxi range. All of the dCi 85-powered versions are eligible for the Renault eco² signature.
New Trafic Phase 3
Completing the enhancements to the Renault van range following the recent launch of the New Master range and the extension of the Kangoo Van family, is the facelifted Phase 3 version of Renault’s best-selling van in the UK, Trafic.
Ordering is open now, ahead of its launch in dealerships from 9 July, with prices for the panel van range coming in at £16,400 to £21,650, and Crew Vans £18,750 to £22,450, excluding VAT and on-the-road charges.
A total of 42 versions are available in the Trafic Phase 3 range, covering every short and long wheelbase, low and high roof configuration, to offer total load volumes from 5m³ to 8.36m³.
The revised versions each come with diesel powertrains in either 90, 115 or 150hp form. They all drive through six-speed manual gearboxes as standard, bar the automated manual Quickshift6 versions.
Mirroring its smaller Kangoo Van brother, again, equipment levels are high. Aside from the model’s full steel bulkhead, remote central locking with deadlocking and R.A.I.D. (Renault Anti-Intruder Device door locking above 5 mph), the Trafic Phase 3 range now offers as standard two business user must-haves: Bluetooth™ and Carminat TomTom satellite navigation.
Top-of-the-range Sport models benefit from 16” alloy wheels, air conditioning and essential chilled glovebox, driver armrest, electric windows and door mirrors, metallic paint and multi-function trip computer. Crew Van versions boast left and right side glazed sliding doors, a removable rear seat base and integral bulkhead with glazed panel.
A comprehensive list of options will ensure that even the most discerning customers will be able to tailor a Trafic Phase 3 to their exact specification. Key items include auto lights and wipers, three-button key with selective door opening, ESP, and for the first time on the panel van versions, climate control.
Underlining Renault’s commitment to quality, both of the new additions to the Kangoo Van and Trafic families benefit from 3 years AA roadside assistance and a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty (two years unlimited mileage).
