City living without the city price tag

Location and value for money were key factors for Rasham Dulai, who’s bought not one but four Redrow apartments close to Birmingham city centre.
“I was living in a three-bedroom semi in Tipton in the Black Country and went to visit a friend who had an apartment in Birmingham city centre and decided that was where I wanted to live,” Rasham, 46, explained.
Knowing that it was brand new apartment that he wanted, he visited Redrow’s Jupiter development of contemporary studios, apartments and penthouses in Sherbourne Street.
“I’ve always bought new-build property or nearly new because that way you’re investment is covered by a guarantee,” Rasham said.
“I had some money left over from selling my old home and decided that as well as my one-bedroom apartment, I would invest in more apartments to rent out. Jupiter is within walking distance of the city centre but despite the location the apartments don’t come with an expensive city centre price tag.”
He added: “All of the transactions went really smoothly. I had already sold my house when I reserved the first two apartments. Just five weeks later I was able to move in.”
Ideally placed in the heart of Birmingham, life at Jupiter offers a vibrant mixture of culture, art, entertainment and nightlife. Residents can indulge in some serious retail therapy, catch a show or enjoy fine dining right on their doorstep.
The location of the apartments means Rasham and other buy to let investors are almost certain to have a steady supply of tenants who want to live close to their workplace and take advantage of the city centre amenities.
