Handbags, lipsticks and glad-rags to the ready - The Scottish Sun’s ‘Glam in the City’ consumer event is coming to Glasgow’s George Square this summer.

In association with Scotland’s premier shopping centre Buchanan Galleries, the brand new three day event is running over the weekend of the 18th – 20th June 2010 in Glasgow’s George Square, headlined by none other than fashion guru Gok Wan.

The event, which is the largest female consumer show ever to be staged in Scotland, is expected to attract up to 15,000 women from around the country and promises three days and nights of unadulterated fashion, style and glamour from top brands including Fake Bake, Love from Australia, the Rainbow Rooms, Cupcake Glasgow and Distinction Spa.

Gok will be joined by an all-star line up of celebs, including Scotland’s very own Lorraine Kelly and the UK’s leading showbiz writer Gordon Smart, over the course of the weekend as Glam in the City brings together an irresistible mix of fashion shows, workshops, makeovers, celebrity performances and exclusive evening events including the final of The Scottish Sun’s Miss Scotland 2010. Tickets for Glam in the City are on sale now from glaminthecity.co.uk with prices starting at £10.50.

Lorraine Kelly will open the event on Friday 18th June 2010 with a day of beauty, workshops, talks and mainstage previews from a selection of the finest fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands including leading Scottish jeweller ROX. After a day of indulgence, Friday night’s activities will kick off at 8pm with the ‘Bizarre Night Out’ hosted by Gordon Smart as he brings the ‘Bizarre’ column to life with celebrity gossip, live acts and some very special guests.

On Saturday 19th June 2010, Gok will arrive for a full day of live mainstage makeovers, beauty secrets and special celebrity guests. Ladies can enjoy a leisurely Saturday afternoon stroll around the exhibiting stalls and some of the afternoon’s exciting mainstage events before retreating to The Scottish Sun Manhattan Lounge which will be open all weekend offering an array of cocktails and wine as well as a delicious selection of chunky canapés, super salads, pastas and wraps.

On Saturday night, after thousands of entries and months of voting, ‘Glam in the City’ will present the grand finale of The Scottish Sun’s Miss Scotland competition 2010. Hosted by Gok Wan, the evening is the perfect chance to see the ten finalists battling it out for the opportunity to become The Scottish Sun’s Miss Scotland 2010.

Sunday will feature a full programme of workshops and mainstage performances and will be the final chance to grab some top fashion and beauty bargains before the weekend is out. The curtain will come down on the GLAM weekend later that evening, but not before the after-party to end all after-parties. Champagne flutes will be at the ready to celebrate an entire weekend of glamorous goings on with live bands, DJs, cocktails, and a whole lot more planned for the Glam Wrap Party.

‘Glam in the City’ promises to be an unmissable weekend full of fashion, beauty, glamour and indulgence. For more information on Glam in the City or to buy tickets, visit the official website at glaminthecity.co.uk.
