The academies will be run during Easter and summer holidays at a number of football clubs and schools across the country, starting in London, Surrey, Birmingham and Manchester this Easter. Run over 3 – 5 days each academy will cater for up to 150 participants offering kids training on sports journalism, physiotherapy, nutrition and leadership skills as well as football coaching.
David Platt commented: “I am very excited to be teaming up with Football Matters and Chevrolet to launch this new and exciting initiative.”
“Our aim is to offer new ideas and training methods to help improve play, be it for a complete beginner or a potential professional. All of our coaches are coached by myself and Football Matters to ensure we are delivering the best service we can to the children. Above all we want everyone to leave having enjoyed the experience and go back to their schools or clubs as better players.”
Rory Harvey, Managing Director of Chevrolet UK. said; “We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn valuable skills in a safe and constructive environment. Our support of grass roots sport in the UK began with the successful launch of our Kids 4 Kids project back in 2007, the association with Football Academies is a great fit for Chevrolet and we’re very proud to be involved.”
Chevrolet will be providing a number of Captiva SUVs for use by Football Matters during the year and will also be announcing shortly a series of regional events with David Platt to promote the academies.
