Samsung introduces the world smallest mono laser printer

13th May 2010 Print

Samsung has announced the launch of the world’s smallest monochrome laser printer. The ML-1665 fits easily into a small business or home office environment, offering an intuitive printing experience through a number of easy to use one-touch features. Environmentally-friendly features make this compact printer perfect for environmentally aware students, home office and small office users.

Intuitive features for busy lives
As technology becomes increasingly complex, busy consumers look for intuitive, compact devices that fit easily into their lifestyle. Whether users are setting up a new business from home or studying, the new ML-1665 printer addresses this need by introducing several ‘one-touch’ features:

The Samsung Print Screen button provides consumers with a quick and easy way to print exactly what they see on their PC screen at the touch of a button

The printer is also compatible with Samsung’s AnyWeb Print software. This allows users to select, drag and drop only the information they need from web pages into a new page on their PC screen. The software allows users to then save or print what they need and avoid wasting time or resources such as paper and toner.

Samsung’s new Soft Power button has been brought to the front panel, rather than the rear of the device, making it simpler to turn them on and off, saving costs.

Stylish and compact design
The ML-1665’s advanced intuitive features are seamlessly integrated into its design. It’s even more compact than previous Samsung models, making it the world’s smallest mono laser printer and ideal for the smallest of working environments and personal users with regular printing needs, like professionals and students.

Key design features:
A streamlined design and glossy, chic black finish

A cover on the output tray to maintain the streamlined look and keep noise levels down, avoiding unnecessary distraction in the home or work office

Print speeds of up to 16 pages-per-minute (ppm) and a first page out time of less than 8.5 seconds

“Samsung understands that consumers don’t want to have to worry about working out how to use their new devices,” said Graham Long, Vice President of IT, UK and Ireland, Samsung Electronics. “With the new printers, we have incorporated a wide range of features in a stylish and compact device to make printing simple and convenient.”

Protect the environment and save money
Samsung’s new Soft Power button makes it easy to switch the printer off when not in use, rather than leaving it in sleep mode. This can help save as much as 9.55 watts per hour. Over a year, this equates to the same amount of energy as leaving a light on for over 18 days. Samsung’s Toner Save option is also available for the very first time on Samsung’s range of B2C colour printers and MFPs, encouraging users to be more responsible with their print supplies by allowing them to easily select draft mode for printing internal documents. This uses 30% less toner than a standard print , which can help reduce costs.

In addition, the ML-1665 is dispatched with minimal packaging to reduce the impact of the device on the environment. The black toner cartridges that supply the printer deliver a 1,500-page yield in the high standard of quality and reliability to be expected from Samsung original printing supplies.

Samsung provides its range of laser printers and multifunction printers (MFPs) to UK customers through its valued network of channel partners and the ML-1665 is available in the UK from May 2010.
