Discover Shakespeare's Birthplace by night

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (SBT) is yet again taking part in the successful “Museums at Night” campaign on Saturday 15 May. For one night only, Shakespeare's Birthplace will open from 5pm - 9pm (with last admittance 8.30pm) enabling visitors to enjoy the special qualities of the Birthplace at night.
As an added bonus, the SBT is offering entry to the Birthplace that night for the bargain price of just £1 per person.
'Museums at Night' is a national campaign, led by Culture24, and funded by MLA and the National Museum Directors' Conference to showcase the unique and vibrant museums, galleries, heritage sites, libraries and archives in the UK. Running from Friday 14 May - Sunday 16 May, museums and galleries will aim to inspire fresh discovery by opening their doors to late night visitors.
This exciting initiative offers visitors the rare opportunity of viewing Shakespeare's Garden as the sun sets. Families can soak up the atmosphere in the twilight of the Birthplace, where the world’s most famous playwright was born and grew up and be guided by candle light into the parlour, hall, glover’s workshop and ‘birthroom’. An operatic duo will perform Elizabethan songs in the Garden, many of which were written by Shakespeare or taken from his plays. Shakespeare Aloud will be reading Sonnets throughout the evening and children can take part in a special trail through the House and Garden.
The Shakespeare Centre, Birthplace and Gift Shop will be open as usual. The Gift Shop and Bookshop is offering a 20% discount off any purchase made during the evening excluding any other special offers or discounts.
