No place like home for Over the Rainbow's Sophie

For Over the Rainbow star, Sophie Evans, there is definitely no place like home – and it’s all thanks to her parents’ decision to buy a brand new house on Barratt’s Parc Gellifaelog development in Tonypandy.

“We have always lived in and around this area,” said mum Michelle Evans (40). “But when we saw the homes Barratt was building here at Parc Gellifaelog, we couldn’t wait to see if there was one to suit us – and of course there was.”

Keen to move to the development as soon as possible, Michelle and husband David (40) were quick to reserve a four bedroom Windemere – and couldn’t be happier with their decision. “From the time we secured this beautiful home, the team at Barratt has been fantastic,” said Michelle. “Nothing has been too much trouble for our site manager. Though there have been very few issues, anything that needed attending to was dealt with professionally and efficiently.”

Sophie Evans is still flying high as a leading contender for the chance to play Dorothy in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s forthcoming West End production of The Wizard of Oz. When not in London, she lives with her parents, younger sister and dog at the Barratt development.

“We couldn’t be happier here – and would recommend a Barratt home to anyone,” said Michelle. “Obviously Sophie is away for the duration of the show– and are all keeping our fingers crossed that she will feature until the very end but she knows we’re looking forward to welcoming her back home.”

Barratt sales director, Adrian Bird, says his team is following Sophie’s progress with great interest: “Sophie is doing brilliantly. She’s tremendously talented and of course we are all supporting her. We are glad we were able to help make the family’s living environment such a happy one. And long may that continue. We wish Sophie every success for the future.”

Located in the rural area of Tonypandy, Parc Gellifaelog is surrounded by breathtaking views. Its quiet location – combined with masses of open space – makes it easy for residents to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle within an area of great natural beauty. The development is also perfectly located for commuters – with quick links to Cardiff, Newport and Merthyr Tydfil.

Parc Gellifaelog offers a selection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. Current availability includes the three bedroom, three storey Chichester townhouse from £158,995.

Tonypandy itself has an impressive variety of local amenities including supermarkets, primary and secondary schools, a college, restaurants, pubs, a health centre and a popular weekend market.
