Taylor Wimpey gives Pinhoe kids a lesson in site safety

House building was on the curriculum at Pinhoe Primary School this week when Taylor Wimpey paid a visit to the school to talk about its new development nearby, Chancel Park.
In front of an audience of children aged between 7 and 11 years, Simon Green, site manager at Chancel Park, and Diana Newman, regional sales manager for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, spoke about the history of the site on which the development is built. They also explained the dangers of playing near construction sites, inviting pupils to model high visibility jackets, hard hats and ear defenders.
Graham Pike, deputy head teacher at Pinhoe Primary School, said: “We were delighted to welcome Simon and Diana to our school to talk about Chancel Park, especially as the talk focused on the dangers of treating building sites as playgrounds – an important topic and something our pupils need to be aware of!
“We are keen to continue our partnership with Taylor Wimpey as we follow the progression of Chancel Park. As you can imagine, learning about the development is very interesting for the pupils as they are growing up alongside it. We are very much looking forward to planning in more activity with the house builder this year.”
Diana Newman commented: “We are committed to supporting the local communities in which we build and, as an important part of that, we always try to partner with a local school for projects of this nature.”
When complete, Chancel Park will comprise a contemporary collection of 122 one, two, three and four bedroom homes. The development has excellent transport links, with trains from nearby Pinhoe Station reaching Exeter in around 10 minutes. Junction 29 of the M5 is less than two miles away or, for trips further afield, Exeter International Airport is just four miles away.
