Vauxhall has announced the launch of dexos2, General Motors’ own brand of high quality engine oil. Boasting improved engine cleaning properties, better protection against the build up of harmful deposits and compatible with petrol, diesel and alternatively fuelled engines, dexos2 is a complete engine lubricant product. It will be used for servicing all Vauxhall vehicles produced from the 2010 model year onwards in 5W30 grade and is a key product of GM’s global programme to harmonise oil specification.

The concept of a global oil specification was conceived in 2006 with the first prototype created in 2007. Three years of further research and development have resulted in an engine oil which prolongs the life and maintains the efficiency of emission reduction systems in both diesel- and petrol-powered automobiles. dexos2 belongs to the so-called Mid-SAPS lubricants (lowered sulphated ash, phosphorous and sulphur content) and made of a proprietary blend of high-performance base oil stocks and state-of-the-art additives fully compatible with the latest diesel particulate filters (DPF) and gasoline catalytic converters (CAT).

This dexos2 blend is unique and without an equivalent currently available in the UK marketplace. dexos2 is available through Vauxhall approved outlets in the UK.

Vauxhall’s Clifford Walpole said: “Using the correct grade of high quality oil is critically important for modern engines and dexos2 has been developed to provide the perfect blend for Vauxhall vehicles. Its exceptional qualities not only benefit the engine but also the owner through reduced fuel consumption and the environment as it helps cut vehicle emissions.”
