To mark the launch of a new three bedroom showhome at Taylor Wimpey’s Callender Rise development in Falkirk, the company recently challenged the Primary 2 pupils of the town’s Westquarter Primary School to design their dream bedroom in a fun competition.

With the company on the lookout for the ten best designs the children set to work to create their very best designs, and prizes up for grabs there was everything to play for. From glitter and glue, to designer patterns and sequins, the children created some interesting and colourful designs for the judges at Taylor Wimpey to consider.

But it turned out to be far too difficult to choose ten best winners with a class full of such amazing talent at Linda Smith, sales manager for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland adds: “We knew the primary two children of Westquarter Primary would create some really amazing designs for us to look at, but we were unprepared for the style and flair that many of the children showed. From Ben-10 duvets to pink palaces for the girls we just couldn’t decide on the best from the class, so we decided to give every pupil an arts and craft chest packed full of things for them to do at home as their award for creating such amazing masterpieces.

“Plus the school was awarded £250 for getting involved in our fun challenge and I’m sure they’ll be able to use this to buy some additional arts and crafts materials. There are certainly some budding interior designers to watch out for in the future, and we’ll be looking closely at the children’s designs for inspiration for future showhome bedrooms!”

The children have really enjoyed taking part in this challenge as Mrs Quigley, deputy headteacher for Westquarter Primary adds: “I was delighted when Taylor Wimpey asked our children to get involved in this fun challenge.

“They undertook this task as part of a classroom activity and really seemed to enjoy putting their imaginations to great use, and I’m very happy that Taylor Wimpey decided to recognise the hard work and effort shown by everyone in the class. And the welcome boost to our funds is an amazing bonus and we’ll put this to good use in the future.”

Taylor Wimpey at Callender Rise in Falkirk offers a range of three and four bedroom homes from just £130,000, plus a new three bedroom showhome which is now open to view.
