New Clio III drops in price by 1%

Improved Clio at a great price!
On the road prices for the three-door New Clio have already been announced with the biggest surprise being how well they compare with current Clio despite it being bigger and better equipped.
New Clio III prices start from £8,895 for the Extreme 1.2 16V 75 which is a 1% drop - so £55 less – on the current Clio equivalent version, which is £8,950.
In most cases, there is only a 2% rise on current Clio, with the biggest rise being just 4% and the new car has extra equipment over the previous Clio, for example the New Clio III Extreme now has lateral airbags as standard (helping towards its Euro NCAP maximum five-star safety rating) previously a £200 option.
In diesel form, Renault expects its New Clio III 1.5 dCi 86 Expression to be its best selling version at £10,850. This is just 2% (£255) more than its current Clio equivalent the Expression 1.5 dCi 80 so not only is the customer getting an all-new car at a great price, there’s also six more hp to play with!
Expected to be the most popular trim level is the sporty Dynamique with the mid range 1.4 98hp engine taking the bulk of the orders. If Clio’s main competition were hoping that Renault would be pricing this all-new car a lot higher at the beginning of its life then they are in for a shock – one that will be a pleasant shock for customers.
Popular Dynamique to undercut rivals by at least £720
The New Clio Dynamique 1.4 16V 98 with air conditioning has an on the road price of just £10,750. This compares to a Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S 100hp at £11,595, a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 SRi 90hp at £11,470 and a VW Polo 1.4 Sport 100hp at £12,220.
Top of the (insurance) class
Insurance groups for New Clio III start from as low as 2E rising to just 5E for the top-level sporty 1.5 dCi 106 Dynamique S. So, not only does New Clio III save you money on purchase price, it will also save you pounds on your insurance!
New Clio III sees many versions drop in insurance groups when compared to current Clio equivalent versions by as much as three groups. For example, the New Clio III 1.5 dCi 68 Extreme drops one group lower to 2E, whilst the 1.4 Dynamique also drops by one group to 4E and the 1.6 Dynamique drops by three groups and is now at 5E.
Compared to other manufacturers, New Clio III’s insurance groups are more than a match and in some cases are lower than an equivalent version from competitors.
The New Clio III 1.2 Extreme 16 V 75 has a low rating of 2E compared to Ford’s Fiesta 1.25 Studio at 3E.
New Clio III’s 1.5 dCi 86 Dynamique’s insurance group is just 3E, the same as the Vauxhall Corsa equivalent 1.3 CDTI 16V SXI and Nissan Micra 1.4 dCi 80 Sport but beating Volkswagen Polo’s 1.4 TDI 80 PS SE PD rated at 5E.
