Less than two years after setting up home together, a young Telford couple have swapped Taylor Wimpey’s Ketley development, The Village, for sister site Castle Meadows in Hadley – to cater for a welcome addition to the family.

Simon Reece (25) and Mercedes Aguiman (26) are now the proud parents of a healthy son, Kyle, whose recent arrival in February 2010 prompted the need for more space and a quick move from a one bedroom apartment to a three bedroom home. Having bought their first home with Taylor Wimpey West Midlands and enjoyed customer service levels that go the extra mile, Simon and Mercedes were more than happy to stick with the leading house builder – especially when they were the only company willing to help them out of a tight spot.

Simon, a RAF aircraft technician, explains: “We immediately fell in love with our new ‘Broadway’ property, which was a Home Of The Week with carpets throughout and the garden already landscaped and situated in a lovely family-orientated cul-de-sac. But three bedrooms is a big step up from one and we only had a 5% deposit, so Taylor Wimpey kindly helped us out with a 15% interest free loan for 10 years that enabled us to get an all-important 80% mortgage and proceed.

“We originally had a buyer for the apartment in Ketley, but that suddenly fell through and it all became a bit stressful, however Taylor Wimpey moved mountains for us and got the Hadley house all signed, sealed and completed within 28 days to really minimise any disruptions. And then as if by fate we were able to rent out the apartment instead, which now looks after itself because of the build quality and location, so it really has been another dream move for us.”

Mercedes, who originally hails from the Philippines, adds: “Dealing with the sales executives Jo and Rene, plus the site team, is like dealing with members of your own family, because they really do bend over backwards and will do anything in their power to help you. That’s just what you need when you’re juggling so many other things like work, family, pregnancy and money issues.”

Castle Meadows is a flagship development combining luxury apartments, traditional detached properties and contemporary mews-style homes on the former GKN Sankey football stadium and car park off Britannia Way. Taylor Wimpey West Midlands have brought in specialist architects to make sure it offers all the modern benefits of new build, but fits in with the local Hadley vernacular.

And latest availability includes newly released two bedroom apartments with allocated parking space from just £89,995, while two bedroom/two bathroom versions are from only £94,995. Three bedroom homes start from £132,500 and four bedroom properties with garage from £159,995.

The ‘Homebuy Direct scheme is also available and means superb family homes are now available for 70% of the price – with only a 5% deposit to pay. It’s aimed at helping buyers with a household income of less than £60,000 to afford the home they want – with an interest free equity loan available for up to 30 percent of the value of the property, co-funded by the Homes and Communities Agency and Taylor Wimpey. For example, if you qualify for a mortgage of £140,000, you could buy a property worth up to £200,000.

Taylor Wimpey West Midlands also has a number of schemes to help second time buyers move up the property ladder and secure more space. ‘Moving Solutions’ means you can move into a brand new home in Telford stress-free, while Taylor Wimpey take care of the sale of your existing home and all the associated moving costs. It literally enables you to trade in your old home for a brand new one and takes all of the uncertainty out of the buying process.

Castle Meadows is open Thursday – Monday from 10am until 5pm.
