Scottish Rugby Union International Sean Lamont and his Renaultsport Mégane 225 Cup Sean Lamont, one of the rising stars of International rugby, is keeping the adrenalin pumping off the pitch thanks to Renaultsport.

The 24-year-old Scotland International and Northampton Saints winger has taken delivery of a Renaultsport Mégane 225 Cup, a car tailor-made for a sportsman whose trademark is his pace and lightning acceleration.

The Cup version offers the best Mégane driving experience with its sports-tuned chassis and suspension, and unique Dunlop tyres, whilst also benefiting from the Cup hallmark of removing certain items of equipment to reduce weight, cost and improve the performance. Yet the 225 Cup still has features like air conditioning, CD player and safety features like ESP should conditions change unexpectedly.

Sean was already a Renault fan, owning a Mégane Hatch 1.5 dCi, which his fiancée now drives to rugby grounds around the UK to watch Sean in action. "The dCi Mégane is a great car but the Cup version is something else. The two-litre 225 hp turbocharged engine makes journeys so much fun. I would recommend it to anybody who loves driving."

"I’m a keen driver and I love my cars, and the 225 Cup is something special," said Sean on a break from training for the rugby Autumn Internationals at Murrayfield. "The ride and handling are exceptional and I love the suspension set-up. You really feel involved with what the car is doing and it makes you confident in the abilities of the car."

So where would Sean play the Renault Mégane Cup if it were on the rugby pitch? "Well, it’s fast and powerful so it would have to be an outside back." Big enough to play on the wing? "It’s got the grunt, for sure, but who says wingers have to be big…it’s sleek, agile and if I’m allowed to borrow Renault’s famous Clio description, it’s got plenty of Va Va Voom!"
