New Megane Renaultsport 2006 to make UK debut at Autosport International

11th January 2006 Print
Megane Renaultsport 2006 Visitors to this week’s Autosport International show (12-15 January) will be the first in the UK to see the New Mégane Renaultsport 225 in the metal when the car makes its debut at the NEC Birmingham today (Thursday 12 January).

Renault already had an impressive show line-up even before this announcement, with last season’s FIA Formula 1 World Championship-winning R25 already confirmed to appear alongside the awesome Mégane Trophy race car. Now the unveiling of the latest incarnation of the company’s highly-regarded sports hatch will no doubt prove just as big a crowd-puller.

Performance car fans will be pleased to learn that not only are there no price increases for the revised Mégane Renaultsport 225 range, even with more standard equipment like climate control, full leather interior and 60W CD/MP3 RDS radio on the Mégane Renaultsport 225 for example, but also that there is a new special edition designed to celebrate the company’s Formula One success last season.

Possibly the most apt form of everyday, practical transport for motor sport fans around the country, the new Mégane Renaultsport 225 Renault F1 Team special edition comes with 60W CD/MP3 RDS radio, climate control, Cup Chassis (includes Brembo front brakes, disconnectable ESP, exclusive Dunlop SportMaxx tyres, uprated dampers and springs), new "black-gloss" 18" spoked lightweight alloys with matching door mirrors and Recaro front sports seats.

Emphasising the car’s motor sport roots, the latest addition to the Renaultsport stable also features unique Renault F1 Team decals and badging on the front wings and front and rear bumpers, plus a numbered plaque at the base of the centre console. Even with its comprehensive list of standard equipment and exclusivity this new three-door Sport Hatch version costs only £900 more than the Cup on which it is based, but offers £1,450 worth of extra features at £19,500.

As mentioned above, prices for the new range are unchanged for the current version. The Cup is available at £18,600, followed by the 225 Sport Hatch at £19,500 and Hatch for £20,000. Orders for the New Mégane 2006 range can be placed from 1 February at Renault dealers nationwide. For those lucky enough to be attending the show, to take a closer look at one of the high performance Renaults on display, whether for road or track, visit the Renault display in Hall 7.
