Tamzin checks in to a Megane Coupe-Cabriolet for five-star glamour

2nd February 2006 Print
Renault’s glamour model, the Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet, has always attracted an alluring clientele with an eye for style and beauty, and its latest customer is no exception. Whether adding a touch of chic to the East End, donning a ‘Red Cap’ or dazzling our screens in new BBC 1 drama, Hotel Babylon, Tamzin Outhwaite is one of the UK’s most versatile and talented actresses and can now be seen behind the wheel of her very own Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet!

Tamzin’s latest production sees her playing the glamorous and successful General Manager of the luxurious five-star, ‘Hotel Babylon’, and as the Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet encapsulates all those qualities and more – including the five-stars courtesy of a maximum rating from Euro NCAP – it was the perfect choice for Tamzin.

Not only does the look of the car appeal to Tamzin, its practicality and flexibility on long journeys between filming sets, also takes the hassle out of motoring. Tamzin says; "I absolutely love the car. In my head, a convertible feels like it could be hassle but with this cabriolet you literally push a button and from a hard top the roof folds back neatly into the boot in about 20 seconds – 22 in fact, I think it is".

Tamzin’s vehicle of choice is the super stylish top-of-the-range petrol, Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet Privilège 2.0 VVT Turbo 165, in sleek black with light beige part-leather interior. Naturally, the Privilège version is packed full of superstar standard equipment fitting for a glamorous young lady like Tamzin.

There’s plenty on offer including climate control (a sweaty upper lip is never a good look), dash-mounted six CD multi-changer (passers-by will surely be looking at you anyway but music is an added bonus), Metallic paint (to make sure it shines as brightly as you do) and Hands-Free Renault card (searching in your handbag for keys is so 2001).

Hotel Babylon has an all-star cast including Tamzin Outhwaite, Max Beesley and Dexter Fletcher, and is currently showing on BBC 1 on Thursday evenings at 9pm. The eight-part drama is based on the popular novel, Hotel Babylon, by Imogen Edwards-Jones and Anonymous which explores the world of luxury hotels.

You too can add a touch of glamour to your life, just like Tamzin, by getting your hands on a Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet now. Available in three trims, Extreme, Dynamique and Privilège, the car comes in a choice of three petrol engines, the 1.6 VVT, the 2.0 VVT 136 and 2.0 Turbo 165 and two diesel engines, the popular 1.9 dCi 130 FAP and the dCi 106 six-speed.
