Metro Bank makes a capital investment in Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The first bank to open on the UK high street for more than 150 years has begun cashing in on the stylish good looks and fuel-efficient reliability of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
Metro Bank is already using its first van to distribute merchandise and literature between its stores – the first are scheduled to open in London’s Holborn and Earl’s Court this summer, with two more following soon after in Fulham Broadway and Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
But given its ambitious plans to build a network of more than 200 stores across Greater London over the next 10 years, Metro Bank has every intention of investing in more Mercedes-Benz vans as its business grows.
Supplied by Sydenham dealer SG Smith, Metro Bank’s new Sprinter 210CDI has a Short body for enhanced manoeuvrability on the capital’s busy streets and wears a striking vinyl wrap by Service Graphics. Power, meanwhile, comes from a clean, ‘green’ Euro 5 common-rail turbodiesel engine – Mercedes-Benz was the first van manufacturer to meet the latest round of EU emissions limits.
David Sampson, Manager of Metro Bank’s Holborn store, said: “We chose the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter because the brand has such a strong reputation for quality and reliability, and we liked the look and shape of the van.”
And he added: “Metro Bank is committed to providing the very highest levels of customer service, and we appreciated the fact that SG Smith delivered superior customer service.”
