Renault introduces new Clio Dynamique S 138 Renault has the perfect solution for drivers who enjoy the refinement and performance of a large car yet want it in a compact and insurance friendly package, with the introduction of its new two-litre 138hp engine with new six speed gearbox in the New Clio. Available exclusively in the stylish three-door Dynamique S trim at launch, this engine will also be available in five door and automatic versions in 2007.

The new Clio Dynamique S 138 is priced at £12,810 and even with a top speed of 127 mph, a maximum torque of 194 Nm at 3,750 and a 0-62mph of just 8.5 seconds, the Clio two-litre 138 is in insurance group 9E. This is three to four groups lower than similar powered superminis. The new Clio Dynamique S 138 offers extra performance with the comfort and refinement for which New Clio is renowned.

Already praised for its dynamic handling and standard-setting ride comfort, the new engine will also be available in a sportier GT version in the future, with suspension and exterior changes. The GT will be positioned directly below the Clio Renaultsport 197 version, and above the Dynamique S 138, and will compete with mainstream supermini hot hatches like the Ford Fiesta ST and Peugeot 207 GT Turbo 1.6, offering power around 140hp – 150hp.

Impressive standard equipment

Standard equipment for the two-litre 138 version, in addition to that fitted to other Dynamique S models includes air conditioning (a £525 option on other Dynamique S versions), hands free keycard with reach adjustable steering (normally a £275 option), part leather upholstery, leather steering wheel, front and rear carpet mats, Zinc grey centre console with matching dashboard inserts and air vent surrounds. Distinguishing it on the outside from other Dynamique S versions, are 16” ‘Lyria’ alloy wheels.

Other equipment fitted to all Dynamique S models include 16” alloy wheels housed in extended sports front wings, extra tinted rear windows, a single CD hi-fi with fingertip remote controls and the ‘style pack’ consisting of sports headlamps, dedicated cornering lights, front foglamps and satin chrome door handles.

Options include metallic paint at £360, and includes one new colour exclusive to the Dynamique S 138, a metallic illusion colour, Nocturne, which is a deep purple.

Low insurance group

Considering the power on offer in the New Clio Dynamique S 138, as well as the impressive list of standard features, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover its low insurance group of just 9E, around three groups lower than cars of similar power.

Exciting new updates for Clio range in first-half of 2007
