Armed Forces Day at Beaulieu
On Saturday 3rd July, 17 Port and Maritime Regiment RLC will be at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, to support this year’s Armed Forces Day in Hampshire with a variety of activities for both the armed forces and their families and visitors to enjoy.
Armed Forces Day is an annual opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from current serving troops and Service families to veterans and recruits.
The day will include a large display and parades throughout the day, of modern military vehicles including Jackal, Warrior and CVRT armoured vehicles. Younger visitors can get a taste of life in the modern Army by joining in with the soldiers on patrol exercises, wearing real army uniform, as well as taking on the Army Crane Challenge on the Beaulieu arena, using real military machinery!
The ‘Saints in the Community’ team from Southampton Football Club will be supporting the event with their football coaches offering budding ‘David Beckhams’ the opportunity to test their football skills and gain expert tuition. They will be joined by players from Hampshire County Cricket Club.
Adding to the atmosphere will be Fijian dancers and a Military Chef’s Cook-off!
On presentation of a valid service pass, veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces and their immediate family (wife/partner and up to 3 children aged 5-17) will receive free entry into the whole of the attraction.
Normal Beaulieu attraction admission prices apply to all other visitors.
The event includes the opportunity to visit the National Motor Museum with its latest exhibition ‘ProMotion’, World of Top Gear, Palace House and 13th century Beaulieu Abbey. Not to be missed is the Secret Army Exhibition which tells the story of wartime Beaulieu and the training of secret agents to work with the Resistance in occupied Europe during WWll.
The event is open from 10am, with plenty of free parking.
