The thrill of the track in Cyprus

29th June 2010 Print

Travellers that need their fix of track events should head off to Cyprus for a week in the sun at the 4 star Palm Beach Hotel.

Those that like a flutter can visit the Nicosia Race Club, the only authorised body in Cyprus to run horse races and to accept bets. They run races throughout the year at the course just outside Cyprus’s capital city. Locals and tourists alike can enjoy the thrill of up to ten races per meeting that take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the summer and autumn.

For a different kind of track thrill head off to Larnaca Karting Centre. At 1600 metres long there are a range of different go-karts and fun-karts to choose from depending on your skill level. The course is designed to international standards - 1.6km long, with an 8.5 metre wide track (12 metre on turns) for safety. It is open seven days a week from 9am until midnight.

A week at the 4 star Palm Beach & Bungalows (palmbeachhotel.com) just outside of Larnaca is from £359 per person based on two people sharing a garden view room in July and includes breakfast.

Flights with Easyjet (easyjet.com) are from £160. Tour operator packages start from £699 per person with flights, transfers and accommodation on bed and breakfast through Thomas Cook (thomascook.com).
