Hodgetts returns four more

Stefan Hodgett’s unrelenting assault on the Renaultsport Elf Clio Cup continued on Sunday at Oulton Park, as yet again he blitzed to pole position, fastest lap and race victory in his MOMO Team Clio. In so doing, 25-year old Stefan maintained his incredible 100% record this season, having won four races out of four since stepping fresh into the car after round one of the ultra-competitive, single-make series back in April.

Having seen success before at the Cheshire track - in single-seater motorsport - Hodgetts used all his racing know-how to muscle his way round the notorious sweeping fast corners, taming the undulating track to add to race wins at Rockingham, Thruxton and Croft.

Commenting on a fourth successive victory, Hodgetts said: “I’ve had four wins but that’s not enough for me, I still want more. I’ll keep working hard myself and with the team and hopefully have more days like this.”

Hodgetts’ latest victory saw him extend his championship lead to 10 points over nearest challenger Robert Byford, and along with team-mate Robert Brown - who was unfortunate to just miss out on qualification for the Oulton Park race proper having shown impressive speed in the previous round at Croft - will be raring to go, along with the rest of the MOMO UK team, when the championship moves on to Donington Park on the 14th/15th July.
