There's no place like the 'Ashbury' show home

The Tharby family never seriously considered moving into a new-build house when they were searching for a Suffolk property – until they stepped inside the ‘Ashbury’ showhome at Taylor Wimpey’s sought-after St Edmunds Gate development of houses for sale in Bury St Edmunds.

Beverley (31) and Shane (33) had been looking at houses for sale in Suffolk ever since the arrival of daughter Lucy almost two years ago, but had struggled to find their perfect home.

Beverley says: “We were looking at four-bedroom homes in Bury St Edmunds, but couldn’t find anything that was right for us, and for the right price. We wanted an older house, but there seemed to be a real shortage of them in this area.

“Then, almost as an afterthought, we thought we’d pop up and look at the ‘Ashbury’ showhome at St Edmunds Gate, though we weren’t really serious at the time because we hadn’t considered the idea of living in a new-build home.

“But, as soon as we saw the ‘Ashbury’ we were sold. The space you get for the money – I still can’t believe we’ve got five bedrooms – and the versatile lay-out, plus the way it was presented, just took our breath away. It’s more than we ever thought we would get in a family home!”

The versatility of the ‘Ashbury’ also impressed the Tharbys, as Beverley explains: “There’s a study on the ground floor, which we will be Lucy’s playroom, and we will use one of the five bedrooms as a study. There’s so much room to be able to do things like that, and that’s fantastic for a growing family.”

Beverley and Shane were so taken with the ‘Ashbury’ showhome, which has been beautifully decorated in fresh teal and natural tones to show off its sizeable proportions, they have opted for some of the same decor in their own home.

“Everything is perfect in the showhome. We were really drawn to the big mirrors and tiles in the bathroom, so we are having the same in our home. The ideas the showhome give you are wonderful,” adds Beverley.

Offering exceptional accommodation over three floors, the five-bedroom ‘Ashbury’ is the perfect choice for those looking for a new place with plenty of space, luxurious comfort and modern styling.

The double-fronted design features a large kitchen/breakfast room leading through French doors into a beautiful conservatory – which is available as an optional extra on certain plots – a separate dining room with French doors to the rear garden, a handy utility room, a light and airy study with attractive bay window to the front, a front reception room also with bay window, and a guest cloakroom.

Upstairs, the landing leads to three double bedrooms – one with en-suite bathroom benefiting from a separate bath and double shower cubicle – and a main bathroom also with separate shower.

Double bedrooms four and five can be found on the top floor alongside a further bathroom, while outside there is a detached double garage and two additional parking spaces.

The detached ‘Ashbury’ housetype is available from only £399,995.

There are also fabulous three-bedroom homes starting at just £207,995, and substantial four-bedroom properties, with a choice of styles available from just £334,995.

Each new home features a luxury fitted kitchen, including an integrated stainless steel oven, hob and hood, a choice of ceramic tiles, Roca suites to the bathrooms, and stylish chrome fittings.

St Edmunds Gate showhome and sales centre are located off Primack Road, Bury St Edmunds, and are open 1pm to 5pm Monday and 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday.
