Persimmon welcomes Mayor of Dagenham

Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Councillor Nirmal Singh Gill, has recently visited a brand new housing development in the town, to find out more about how the developer, Persimmon Homes Essex, is enabling a wide range of househunters including first time buyers to move into their new home with ease.

When Persimmon Homes Essex launched its Evolution development in Dagenham late last year, the company knew it would be popular among local people due to the variety of properties available and the number of incentives on offer, which Councillor Nirmal Singh Gill wanted to learn more about.

Neil Sykes, sales director for Persimmon Homes Essex, was thrilled the Mayor visited the development. He stated: “Due to a number of specific initiatives on offer at the site we are seeing continual interest, which is why we invited the Mayor to the site to gain further insight into our commitment to supporting Dagenham househunters and boosting the housing market in general.”

On visiting the development Councillor Nirmal Singh Gill, commented: “I found my visit to Evolution to be very informative and it was extremely valuable to find out what is being done to assist several househunters who have been unable to purchase a brand new home on the open market.

“Persimmon’s dedication to shared equity schemes such as HomeBuy Direct is imperative in this current market to enable homebuyers to gain that all important first step onto the property ladder and I’m delighted that it’s working so well in our borough.”

Evolution hosts a collection of one and two bedroom apartments as well as a number of three and four bedroom homes. Persimmon’s dedication to the Government-led 70 per cent shared equity scheme means that purchasers are safe in the knowledge that they only have to find a small five per cent deposit and a mortgage for up to 70 per cent of the market price of the property and with prices starting from £174,965 for a three bedroom Barking House styles through HomeBuy Direct, it’s easy to see why the initiative is proving popular.(the demand has been so great, we have run out of apartments under the scheme

Neil added: “Across the Essex area we have achieved over 70 completions and 49 reservations through HomeBuy Direct and 18 of these alone have been from Evolution, demonstrating how supportive the scheme is for Dagenham buyers.”

Neil concludes: “I’d like to thank the Mayor for his time and interest in our new homes in Dagenham, his visit confirmed our commitment to supporting first time buyers in achieving home ownership, no matter what their personal circumstances or financial situation.”
