Developer Redrow has been congratulated for making its new collection of premium quality homes available at affordable prices in Grimsby.

Comments came as the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor Norma Lincoln, and Greater Grimsby MP Austin Mitchell officially opened Redrow’s new show homes at Kirk’s Paddock.

They cut the ribbon to launch the New Heritage Collection in Scartho Top, near Grimsby, during an event attended by local estate agents, solicitors and other property professionals from the area.

Kirk’s Paddock was one of six Redrow developments across North Lincolnshire and Yorkshire to be awarded ‘Kickstart’ funding via the Homes & Communities Agency.

The Government funding will support 30 homes with HomeBuy Direct at Kirk’s Paddock and unlock 41 private sale homes on a new phase which was stalled when the recession hit.

Speaking at the show home launch, Austin Mitchell MP said: “This is a tough time for the building industry and housing but it’s important that we sustain it to stimulate the economy. The Kickstart funding that that has been awarded to Kirk’s Paddock has helped as it means people are being employed and that apprenticeships are being created to give people in the area skills. And with HomeBuy Direct people will have access to affordable housing.”

HomeBuy Direct is a Government-backed scheme which makes home ownership more affordable for those with an annual household income less than £60,000.

Eligible purchasers can take out an equity loan for up to 30% of the initial purchase price, jointly funded by the Homes and Communities Agency and Redrow, and interest free for the first five years.

Councillor Lincoln said: “It’s very important to provide good quality, affordable homes in the borough and when you look around Kirk’s Paddock you can see that the homes are built to a high standard.”

John Grime, regional director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), said: “I’m delighted that the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire Councillor Norma Lincoln and Greater Grimsby MP Austin Mitchell were able to join us as we celebrated the opening of the new show homes at Kirk’s Paddock.

“The launch of the New Heritage Collection at Kirk’s Paddock marks a milestone for the company as we move into the new phase of the development.”

He explained: “The look of the homes is heavily influenced by the traditional designs that emerged from the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1920s and 1930s. But while the elevations and the close attention to detail are reminiscent of the past, the interiors are completely modern. It’s an enviable combination that sets Redrow apart. I would like to thank the site team for working so hard to deliver these homes – the finished product is very much a credit to them.”

To see the beauty of the new homes for yourself, visit Kirk’s Paddock, open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5.30pm.
