Its aim is to go the extra mile for customers, but now Fiat’s London flagship dealer, Fiat Marylebone, has done one better than that – in fact 9,999 miles better.

The dealership, based in the capital’s Wigmore Street, has sponsored a team of two intrepid adventurers who are driving a Fiat Doblo people carrier 10,000 miles to Mongolia, for charity.

The three-year-old car is taking part in the Mongol Rally, which each year attracts around 400 vehicles to undertake the gruelling journey from London to Ulanbaatar in Mongolia.

Fiat Marylebone is providing aftersales support including parts such as wheels and tyres, and has also given the team a technical briefing on running and maintaining the Doblo during the trip.

Drivers Jay Scott, a journalist, and government advisor Jo Nicholls, are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for two charities, The Christina Noble Children's Foundation for street children in Vietnam and Mongolia, and Motability, the scheme which provides vehicles for disabled people in the UK.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to support an exciting event and two worthwhile causes,” says Tony Dittli, managing director, Fiat Marylebone. “Jay and Jo have made an excellent choice of vehicle for their trip and we wish them every success on the journey.”

“We are delighted to have Fiat Marylebone on board,” says Jay Scott. “We’ll be blogging along the way and taking pictures of the car in a wide variety of dramatic terrain, as we cover a dozen countries and one third of the world.”
