WD-40 and 3-IN-ONE get the party started for Clio Cup Thursday 19 February saw the official launch of the 2009 sponsorship deal between WD-40 Company and 25-year-old Philip Glew from Tothill in Lincolnshire.

2009 will see Phil begin his second year competing in the Championship, which supports the highly prestigious British Touring Car Programme. 2009 also sees Phil begin new partnerships with both the 2008 Championship-winning Team Pyro and WD-40’s sister brand 3-IN-ONE.

Sue Walker, Brand Manager for 3-IN-ONE, said at the launch: “I am really excited to be part of this year’s sponsorship deal. With Phil being tipped to win the Championship this year, it seems the perfect time and place for us to introduce our 3-IN-ONE professional range of specialist lubricants to the motorsport arena.”

Commenting on the start of the season, Phil said: “This year is already looking good, the car has tested well, the team is fired up and I can’t wait for the season to start at Brands Hatch on the 5th April. It is great to have WD-40 Company back on board for this year; they were a great support last year and their products have been invaluable when preparing the car during the race weekends – I like to think they are our secret weapon!”

The ELF Renault Clio Cup is the UK’s premier one-make saloon-car British Touring Car Championship. Two races are held at World Series by Renault, which drew a crowd of 110,000 in 2008, making it the best attended national saloon-car championship in the UK. The season kicks off on 5th April at Brands Hatch circuit in Kent and finishes nine races later back at Brands Hatch on 3rd October.

Across the course of the season, visitors to the race days at the UK’s top racing circuits will be able to sample the 3-IN-ONE professional range of products.
