Parliamentary visit to Letchworth a success

Luxury housebuilder, Charles Church Thames Valley, played host to a number of dignitaries recently at its Fairfield Park development in Letchworth.

Conservative MP, Mr Alistair Burt was joined by Imtiaz Farookhi and Nick Cunningham from the National Housebuilding Council (NHBC) as well as Bill Cairns, construction director for Charles Church in the Bedfordshire region.

The event was organised by the NHBC and Charles Church to deepen Alistair Burt MP’s understanding of housebuilding within his region, to gain knowledge of the opportunities and challenges facing the housing building industry, and also to give him an insight into site-based activity taking place at a flagship development in the area.

As part of the morning, Mr Burt and Mr Farookhi were given a guided tour of the new homes being created at the development as well as see inside completed properties.

Mr. Burt commented: “With so much building taking place in my constituency it’s very important that homeowners feel secure. The NHBC process is professional and up to date with modern building methods which should provide a level of assurance which is vital when considering one of the most important purchases in a person’s life. I’ve enjoyed my day immensely and I feel I have a greater depth of understanding about the construction industry as a whole.”

Mr Farookhi of the NHBC, said: “It was extremely useful to have visited Fairfield Park. We have seen first-hand how happy residents are in their new homes and communities. The Government and the housebuilding industry need to continue to work together to ensure we are building homes which people will be happy to live in.”

Bill Cairn from Charles Church added: “This is the first time we have welcomed an MP on site and it’s been extremely interesting to discover the thoughts of the Government, the NHBC and a developer. We would be happy to facilitate again.”
