Join the 'taste trail' in Leamington

Next month sees the return of the highly successful and popular Royal Leamington Spa Food & Drink Festival which takes place on Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 September.
The Royal Pump Room Gardens will be a hive of activity with live music and performances from local artists, radio broadcasts, special markets, cookery demonstrations, competitions and a feast of culinary traders. Organised by BID Leamington, the Festival with free entry, is set to be an even bigger success than last year!
As part of the programme of events, visitors can take part in the popular ‘Taste Trail’. For just £1.00, visitors can eat for free at eight different and diverse local restaurants including Café Rouge, Pizza Express, Sabai Sabai, Sozzled Sausage, Strada, The Benjamin Satchwell, The Clarendon and The Shakespeare. Visitors will be required to purchase a Taste Trail card, visit the restaurants, sample their dishes and rate each accordingly. Those that take part will be entered into a prize draw to win dinner for two at the winning restaurant. Taste Trail cards will be sold for just £1.00 from participating restaurants in the run up to the festival and can be purchased over the festival weekend from the Royal Pump Room Gardens.
On the Sunday, the renowned Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Sauce will be putting music into food at the Cookery Theatre. Fusing both elements in his inimitable, charismatic style, Levi will be singing and cooking up some Caribbean Magic live on stage. Other events and activities include an International Food Market, Warwickshire Farmers Market, live demonstrations in the Aga Rangemaster Cookery Theatre, specialist local producers, competitions and the chance to sample a wide selection of world-wide dishes. Live music will be provided by a number of local talented bands including Lament, Beth Tysall, Night Trippers, the Sheila Fawkes Jazz Band and Charred Grizzle, an engaging and charming piece of storytelling enthralling all ages.
New for 2010 will be a “Little Book of Offers” featuring some fantastic and exclusive discounts, promotions and free give-aways across a wide range of products and services in the town.
Helen Smith, Executive Director of BID Leamington, stated “With live music, entertainment, food sampling and cookery demonstrations, our 2010 festival will provide something for all the family. The Taste Trail is a fantastic opportunity for restaurants to show-case their produce and encourages visitors to visit restaurants that they might not have been to before!”
