Would-be homeowners in Halifax could discover that homeownership is more affordable than they realised with the help of a Government-backed scheme.

Dozens of Redrow customers across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire have already stepped onto the property ladder with the support of HomeBuy Direct and the valuable help is now available on selected properties at Wheatley Chase.

It means that those starting out in life can initially save almost a third off the normal price of a brand new home.

Patsy Aicken, sales manager for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) said: “Making that all-important first step onto the property ladder can be tricky and HomeBuy Direct is for many people the only way they can realise their dreams of homeownership. It’s already helped more than 50 customers across the region invest in their future with a brand new Redrow home.”

With HomeBuy Direct customers can take advantage of a 30% equity loan, jointly funded by Redrow and the Homes and Communities Agency, enabling them to purchase the home of their dreams at a price they can afford.

The scheme is open to those with an annual household income of under £60,000. Eligible customers include first time buyers, those starting over after a relationship break up or growing families who can prove they need extra space.

A selection of two and three-bedroom homes from Redrow’s New Heritage Collection are now being sold ‘off plan’ at Wheatley Chase, with prices starting from £122,999.

And with HomeBuy Direct customers could snap up a brand new home for an initial outlay of as little as £86,099. The loan is interest free for the first five years and purchasers can repay the outstanding balance when they have more funds available or when they come to resell.

“HomeBuy Direct purchasers should only need a relatively small deposit and to apply for a mortgage with a maximum loan-to-value of 70%. This will generally give them access to much improved mortgage interest rates,” Patsy commented.

“And while an older, second hand property may come with a smaller price tag, buying a brand new home could save them time and money as it won’t need expensive repairs and renovations.”

Inspired by the architecture of the Arts and Crafts movement, the traditional looking homes in Redrow’s New Heritage Collection hide modern interiors styled for 21st century lifestyles. The contemporary kitchens feature fashionable floor to ceiling cabinets with top name appliances, while statement-making bathrooms boast quality fixtures and fittings.

Redrow has planning permission to build 89 new homes at Wheatley Chase in Keighley Road, which was used most recently as a bed and mattress manufacturing unit.

The development is well served by local schools with a good range of amenities nearby. Halifax town centre is just a mile away and there’s also good access to the motorway for easy access to Leeds and beyond.

In keeping with the local area and to meet planning requirements, some of the properties will have stone finishes.
