Paulerspury development ticks all the boxes

Rachael Talbot’s house-hunting wish-list was daunting. "I wanted a modern, detached house with a double garage in a village location, one that didn’t look the same as lots of others. And I’ve always dreamed of living in a stone house. The agents said I’d never find such a property."

But she did, at Hunters Lodge, Bloor Homes’ attractive development of 14 three, four and five-bedroom houses in the village of Paulerspury, between Towcester and Milton Keynes. Each house at Hunters Lodge is individually designed and the four-bedroom property Rachael chose is stone-built.

Rachael and her husband, Robert, married at the beginning of this year and had known for a while that they would want to upsize from their three-bedroom house, which they bought new five years ago. But although they wanted a rural, village location, they needed to be close to Milton Keynes, where Rachael works and from where Robert commutes to London every day.

"We had been keeping an eye out for about a year," says Rachael, "pinpointing villages that fitted the bill. In February we saw the ‘Coming Soon’ sign at Hunters Lodge and kept in touch with Bloor until our plot was released in May. We bought at the end of that month."

Not only was Rachael and Robert’s search easier than expected, so was the sale of their old home, thanks to Bloor’s part exchange scheme. By part exchanging their old home, the Talbots saved not only money but also the hassle of managing viewings and chasing agents.

Following valuations by independent agents, Bloor offered Rachael and Robert a price for their old home which was then taken off the purchase price of their new property at Hunters Lodge. This saved the cost of agents’ and some solicitors’ fees and freed the couple to move in to their new home, rather than having to wait for a buyer before completing their purchase.

Hunters Lodge is built on the site of the former kennels of the Grafton Hunt, and acknowledges this hunting heritage naming each of its houses after a famous English hunt. The available properties range from the three-bedroom Cottesmore, priced at £299,950, to the Quorn, a four-bedroom home at £445,000.

Paulerspury is a charming village situated off the A5, approximately three miles south of Towcester and eight miles north of Milton Keynes. Its location means that Hunters Lodge offers the best of both worlds: a picturesque and tranquil rural setting, yet convenient for a range of shops, good schools and leisure facilities, and an easy drive to commuting links at Milton Keynes.

Among the local attractions are motor racing at Silverstone, Towcester Racecourse, the National Waterways Museum and Stowe Landscape Gardens, among the finest in Britain.
