Modern homes with traditional influences for Tipton

A former ironworks foundry close to the centre of Tipton is being given a complete facelift and will soon be home to a range of top quality two, three and four-bedroom houses.
Redrow’s new ‘Heritage Gardens’ venture, in Upper Church Lane, is launching on Saturday, September 4th, with two fully furnished show homes and a view home.
Redrow has already begun taking details from would-be home owners.
Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), says: “This former industrial site is being totally transformed and will offer a great choice of homes from our critically acclaimed New Heritage Collection. Individual homes will combine traditional looking exteriors with an ‘Arts & Crafts’ influence and contemporary interiors designed for modern family living.”
The eight-acre site will eventually feature 87 of Redrow’s sought-after new homes, close to the centre of Tipton, in the heart of the Black Country and offering easy access to Birmingham and Wolverhampton. The area has convenient links to the M5 and M6 motorways.
Heritage Gardens is the latest location to feature Redrow’s new housing collection, which has already been introduced at Rossendale Gardens, in Earl Shilton, near Leicester and Eliot’s View, Nuneaton.
Just as the Arts and Crafts era (c1850 – 1915) grew from the desire to bring back the skill and creativity of the individual craftsman and revive the simplicity and honesty in the way buildings and furnishings were made, Redrow has deliberately set out to reintroduce a high degree of individuality to the way its homes look and feel.
One of the most popular and enduring of domestic architectural styles, the Arts and Crafts influence can be seen in many so-called ‘character’ homes from later periods, especially the 1920s and 1930s.
Pauline added: “This is a real opportunity for local people to own a quality built home that ticks all the right boxes. Our research has told us that most of our customers want to live in a home that looks traditional, perhaps evocative of the home they grew up in. But they also want it to feature the latest statement-making kitchens and bathrooms and for it to be easy to maintain and economical to run. Heritage Gardens will offer them all they’re looking for – and more.”
External design details which typify the Arts & Crafts era and will be reproduced in varying degrees at Heritage Gardens include dropped eaves, projecting plinths, bays and other distinctive window styles. Other highlights will include timber or tiled canopies over doors and windows, supported by decorative gallows brackets, and the use of larch lap boarding as a decorative feature.
Inside the homes will boast convivial open plan living spaces, contemporary kitchens with floor to ceiling height cabinets and top brand name appliances, plus desirable bathrooms with quality fixtures and fittings.
