The Green House shortlisted for excellence award

11th August 2010 Print

Heralded as the UK’s Greenest Hotel, when it opened in April 2010, ‘The Green House’ has been shortlisted for the Edie (Environmental Data Interactive Exchange) ‘Awards for Environmental Excellence 2010’.

The hotel has been shortlisted for the category ‘Green Retail Initiative’, alongside projects from household brands such as Waitrose, Tesco, Moto and Marks and Spencer.

The awards, now in their fourth year, seek to celebrate the year's most successful green innovators and environmental breakthroughs, and since gaining RSA accreditation in 2009 have been recognised as one of the top Environmental awards in Europe. RSA accreditation gives the winners the chance to go through and enter the coveted ‘European Business Awards’ for the Environment, fighting it out with the best of the continent's eco-projects.

The projects will be judged by a panel of leading lights, including the eminent green campaigner and celebrity designer, Oliver Heath and eco-consultant and TV presenter, Joanna Yarrow. The winners will be announced in a prestigious awards ceremony at The Hurlingham Club, London, on 4th November.

Christopher Airey, Managing Director of The Green House commented “Being shortlisted for the Edie’s is a major achievement for the hotel, especially alongside mega brands such as Waitrose and Marks and Spencer. The whole team at The Green House play a massive part in supporting our passion for ‘all things green’ and it is testament to them all that we have reached this stage.”
