Redrow Homes is marking the relaunch of its Vision @ Devonport development with the grand opening of a state-of the-art new sales office and show home this weekend.

Following a recent investment of almost £3m from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), it’s full steam ahead at Vision, where Redrow is partway through a major facelift for the former South Yard Enclave.

The award-winning developer has invested heavily in the new marketing suite, which will give buyers the opportunity to take virtual tours of the latest homes and see detailed plans for the next phases of redevelopment. They will also be able to look around a professionally designed, decorated and fully furnished show home.

The new complex will launch this weekend (August 21 / 22) and Redrow is inviting home hunters along to celebrate.

Vision will eventually consist of hundreds of new homes alongside shops and community facilities, which will revitalise the local economy. With 84 homes built, subsequent phases of development were put on hold last year due to market conditions and whilst an application for investment from the HCA’s Kickstart programme was considered.

Now, with the HCA investment secured, Redrow is confident the local market is showing sufficient signs of recovery to relaunch sales and move forward at a pace with building works on site.

Vanessa Randall-Short, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “We are delighted to be relaunching our Vision development, which has already played such a major role in rejuvenating the heart of the Devonport community. An area of the town centre that was ‘out of bounds’ to local people is once again a place for them to live, work and play.

“We are beginning to see signs of improvement in the local market and are confident that the contemporary new homes at Vision will meet this growing demand. We are opening a high-tech new sales office and a stylish show home to give potential purchasers plenty to see.”

A four-bedroom ‘Sound’ style show home will promote the new phase and show off Redrow’s high quality interior specification. There will also be a finished and carpeted two-bedroom ‘Yealm’ apartment to view.

Vanessa adds: “The ‘Sound’ show home has been given a young and fresh feel with a colour scheme of red, cream and gold, but will appeal to a wide range of potential purchasers including young families.

“The open-plan lounge and dining room has a beautiful cream corner sofa complemented by oak furniture. A contemporary touch has been added with chrome light fittings. To showcase its suitability as a family home, the interior designers have created a gorgeous butterfly themed girl’s room and a ‘retro’ styled boy’s room, with stunning Harlequin wallpaper featuring scooters, VW camper vans and boats. The master bedroom has been given a sumptuous elegant feel with a teal and gold colour scheme.”

The Vision site was once part of the town centre, which was heavily damaged by the blitz, and was requisitioned by the MoD shortly after the Second World War, becoming known as the South Yard Stores Enclave.

Redrow was chosen as preferred developer by national regeneration agency HCA (formerly English Partnerships) to build a development of 460 new homes together with a range of community facilities.

The first residents moved in during 2008 and work has been on going to complete the initial phases, but subsequent stages stalled for several months as homebuyers withdrew from the market during the economic downturn. Since then, the housebuilder has worked closely with the HCA, DRC Partnership, Plymouth City Council and other stakeholders to get the development back on track.

Vanessa added: “We’re pleased to be in a position to once again be building and selling new homes on the site and look forward to achieving our eventual ‘Vision’ of a thriving community in the heart of Devonport.”

HCA area manager Trevor Ives said: “It is good to see that the project will continue in such uncertain times and will offer real benefits to local residents and produce the mixed tenure community that was considered more than 10 years ago. Once complete, these homes will be a real asset to the area and underline the commitment of the partners to provide housing that meets the needs of local people.

“This scheme also demonstrates the importance of partners working together to deliver homes that local people want.”

For those wanting to be part of this award winning project, homes are currently priced from £102,995 for a one-bedroom property up to £169,995 for a four-bedroom home.

Join Redrow for the opening of its new sales office and show home between 10am and 5.30pm on Saturday 21 or Sunday 22 August.
