Photography holidays in the Tatra Mountains

19th August 2010 Print

Tatra Photography has added a Lakes and Waterfalls workshop in Slovakia's stunning Tatra Mountains for October half term following a surge in demand for its photography breaks.

Bookable through tatraphotographyworkshop.com the break costs just £599 per person including: return flights from London Luton to Krakow, (flights from Liverpool, Bristol and Edinburgh available on request), airport transfers, transport to photography locations, three nights full board accommodation and four days of photography tuition.

Tuition is offered throughout the holiday and covers: composition, exposure, shutter speed, focus and depth-of-field, apertures and understanding histograms. Photographers will also learn to ‘read’ the landscape and how to create panoramas as well as getting advice on HDR imaging and black and white photography. Numbers are limited to seven people to ensure that each participant can receive high levels of personal tuition.

The break takes place in the Tatra Mountains which are the highest (2655m) of the Carpathians and the only range of the alpine system in Slovakia. It features stunning scenery including: giant waterfalls, lakes, valleys, deep green forests, blue mountain tarns and rugged snowy peaks as well as wildlife such as brown bears, wolves, lynx and deer and an abundant range of flora. The holiday is led by award-winning photographer Lee Pengelly and requires a moderate level of fitness as there are walks of up to two hours. The break is suited to photographers of all abilities whether working in digital or film, from 35mm up to large format.

Tatra photography has thoroughly researched all the photographic locations featured in the course so that participants can concentrate on photography and put into practice the hints, tips and techniques offered by the professional photographers.
