Canon increases scanning speeds
Canon announces two new scanners in its CanoScan range, CanoScan LiDE 210 and CanoScan LiDE 110. Replacing the LiDE 200 and LiDE 100, the new models combine increased scanning speeds with superb photo and document scanning output. With ultra-compact size and high specification, including a new Auto Scan button and advanced software solutions, the new models offer quality and functionality at an affordable price.
Quick and clear scanning
CanoScan LiDE 210 and CanoScan LiDE 110 offer crisp and clear scanning at significantly higher speeds. CanoScan LiDE 110 has reduced the A4 300 dpi scanning time to approximately 16 seconds compared to 24 seconds for the LiDE 100, whilst the CanoScan LiDE 210 has reduced it to approximately 10 seconds compared to 14 seconds for the LiDE 200.
Canon has added Auto Photo Fix II and Auto Document Fix features to provide the user with complete control over the output and quality of final images. Auto Photo Fix II resolves common faults like washed-out faces, dull skin tones or over/under-saturated scenery and can ‘recognise’ the type of scene in a photo. Similarly, Auto Document Fix delivers beautiful and easy-to-view scan results by automatic advanced image analysis and area-by-area data correction.
The new Auto Scan button ensures immediate scanning and, with Auto Scan Mode, the devices automatically recognise the type of original document and scan and save it using suitable settings at the touch of a button. CanoScan LiDE 110 has the ability to scan up to 2,400x4,800 dpi and CanoScan LiDE 210 4,800x4,800 dpi, while both offer a 48 bit colour depth.
The inclusion of four configurable ‘EZ’ buttons on CanoScan LiDE 210 and CanoScan LiDE 110 allows simple one-touch operation for common tasks including scanning, copying, e-mailing, and creating PDFs. CanoScan LiDE 210 also has an additional 5th ‘EZ’ button, enabling users to create a multiple page PDF direct from the scanner without the need to return to the PC.
Save desk space and power
The ultra-compact CanoScan LiDE 210 and CanoScan LiDE 110 feature a new and unique Z-lid double-hinge design which allows thick documents and books to be scanned without compromising the scanner’s look and feel. CanoScan LiDE 210 is now just 39mm high and is also supplied with a neat stand to enable upright scanning and free up valuable desk space. Both models are also USB powered so they remain space and energy-efficient.
Comprehensive software
CanoScan LiDE 210 and CanoScan LiDE 110 come with comprehensive software for added functionality. MP Navigator EX features optical character recognition and stitch assist for scans larger than A4, and Solution Menu EX provides easy access to features using easily recognisable pictorial icons.
CanoScan LiDE 210 and CanoScan LiDE 110 are available across EMEA from September 2010.
