Low cost airline bmibaby gave passengers travelling to Venice a chance to experience Venetian culture before they landed with some unique onboard entertainment.

This week, passengers were treated to a short violin concert and theatre performance in the second installment of bmibaby’s ‘enterplanement’ season.

Passengers saw scenes from longstanding hit show: Venezia by Teatro San Gallo at the departure gate at East Midlands Airport, a performance complete with traditional Venetian masks and costumes.

Once up in the air, violinist Matteo Mesini from the critically acclaimed Collegium Ducale, charmed passengers with a short musical recital of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons..

‘Enterplanement’ aims to inspire passengers, showcase the culture and traditions of the destinations bmibaby fly to and raise awareness about local artists and businesses in destinations the airline flies to.

Passenger Wendy Holmes who was on board commented:

“Lovely - I really enjoyed it. It was a very pleasant surprise, a real treat to hear the live music. It really has inspired us. We were saying we would like to go to a concert while we were in Venice but this time I think we actually will!”

Helen Sharp from Nottingham said:

“Amazing, we thought it was really good. Seeing the actors in the departure area and then the violinist on board, it was all fantastic and completely unexpected. I feel it’s first class entertainment on a low cost airline. It gives a real taste of where we are going to visit.”

The footage is now available on the bmibaby Twitter profile and Facebook fan page for those who were not lucky enough to be onboard the flight bmibaby.
