Leamington gears up for food & drink festival

With less than two weeks to go, Royal Leamington Spa is gearing up for its most successful Food & Drink Festival yet. Taking place on Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 September at the Royal Pump Room Gardens, the Festival is expected to attract around 14,000 visitors.
Featuring over 100 stalls, Levi Roots Mr Reggae Reggae Sauce Man, live music, a funfair, special markets, cookery demonstrations and competitions, the Festival is completely free to attend!
This year’s ‘Taste Trail’ features nine mouth-watering restaurants including the newly opened South Indian cuisine “Kayal” plus the popular Indonesian infused Sabai Sabai, both on Regent Street. Both restaurants will also have stalls at the Festival where tasty delights will be on offer. Sabai Sabai will be demonstrating how to carve a carrot or cucumber into a piece of edible floral art. At the live cookery demonstration Kayal will create their speciality rice and lentil dhosa pancake, whilst Sabai Sabai will surprise visitors with a dish that they can also cook at home!
Other participating restaurants in the Taste Trail include Café Rouge, Pizza Express, Sozzled Sausage, Strada, The Benjamin Satchwell, The Clarendon and The Shakespeare. Visitors will be required to purchase a Taste Trail card, visit the restaurants, sample their dishes and rate each accordingly. Those that take part will be entered into a prize draw to win dinner for two at the winning restaurant. Taste Trail cards will be available from the Royal Priors Shopping Centre next weekend, from participating restaurants in the run up to the Festival and over the Festival weekend from the Royal Pump Room Gardens.
Levi Roots Mr Reggae Reggae Sauce Man will be putting music into food at the Cookery Theatre on the Sunday. Fusing both elements in his inimitable, charismatic style, Levi will be singing and cooking up some Caribbean Magic live on stage. Live music will also be provided by a number of local talented bands including Lament, Beth Tysall, Night Trippers, the Sheila Fawkes Jazz Band and Charred Grizzle.
New for this year is a “Little Book of Offers” featuring over 100 fantastic and exclusive discounts, promotions and free give-aways across a wide range of products and services in the town. The voucher book is now available from participating retailers and from the Royal Priors Shopping Centre next weekend. The offers can also be downloaded from the Royal Leamington Spa website at: royal-leamington-spa.co.uk/offers
