A versatile way to make content available for streaming

"Today an external multimedia hard disk drive is capable of acting as much more than simply as a backup and storage device for digital content. It is also able to serve as a media hub for the home that controls multimedia streams between connected devices", says Marco Perino, General Manager Digital Life Products and Services. "This truly adds value as it allows to view footage captured in nearly any format on a TV without need of tedious transcoding on a PC."

Streaming content from connected devices to the TV

STOR.E TV+ allows streaming of content from camcorders such as the CAMILEO SX900 and external hard disk drives, that can be connected via USB to the STOR.E TV+, directly to the TV. The user simply browses the folders on the remote device in the onscreen menu on the TV screen to locate the file and play the footage. This means users can now easily display their videos and photos stored on the camcorder or on a hard disk drive on the TV in Full HD quality or store it in the embedded hard disk drive of STOR.E TV+ to create a central multimedia library.

Extensive support of file formats

The new multimedia hard disk drive is designed to support a long list of file formats including the most popular, such as mp3, Dolby Digital or AAC for audio, wmv, avi and mpg for video and for pictures it supports jpg, bmp, tiff and gifs.

Connecting to the home network

The STOR.E TV+ will feature a broad range of interfaces including USB, Composite Video, Ethernet but also HDMI for streaming high-definition videos uncompressed in full 1080p to a TV screen with HDMI input. The media hub is WLAN ready. Toshiba will also launch a version of STOR.E TV+ bundled with a WLAN USB dongle that can be plugged in one of the two USB interfaces and enables easy integration of STOR.E TV+ into a wireless home network.
