Design duo to accessorise new fashion website
A duo of Leicester-based jewellery designers are aiming for global exposure after joining a new website that is hoping to give High Street fashion a run for its money.
Best friends Zainab Daud and Safina Sidat both live in Evington village and are also studying at Universities in Birmingham. Working together under the name Joolz & Jane (the girls’ nicknames) they create their unique collection of handcrafted, quirky jewellery inspired by their passion for colourful and rare beads. The twosome will be selling their creations on Fashion Killerz, an exciting website where every item has been individually designed and produced by talented people who have a real passion for what they do. Their products will feature alongside the work of other designers - from around the UK and beyond - including clothing, jewellery and accessories.
The site, fashionkillerz.com, is due to be launched in September and will be open to anyone creating handmade fashion items. The site is a great platform for designers to showcase and sell their products on an international scale but, more importantly, it will offer customers a one-stop shop where they can browse and buy unique and original items - many of which will be one-of-a-kind. So no more worrying that you will bump into someone wearing the same outfit as you!
Joolz & Jane was formed in May this year after their interest in jewellery motivated them to create pieces of their own jewellery. “We started creating jewellery with new vibrant colours that have been popular this summer and which incorporate wooden, glass, porcelain and fabric covered beads galore - which can be threaded onto coloured string, ribbon, elastic or chains, as the customer chooses. They’ve been well received at craft fairs and amongst our friends so we are now working on building up our business since,” said Zainab (Jane).
“Safina and I combine our ideas to create many one-off individual pieces that compliment any outfit and we offer a range of bracelets, necklaces and earrings, all inspired by our love for vintage pieces that have a story to tell or a theme to unfold. We both love what we do and have lots of fun creating new styles which means we are continually updating our range with new and vibrant pieces.
“Fashion Killerz offers a great way for us to gain international exposure and it’s an opportunity that was too good to miss. We can’t wait until the site goes live.”
Website creator, Michele Turner commented: “Fashion Killerz has already attracted around 50 designers and I’m hoping even more will come on board. Selling their work in one exciting location means that customers visiting the site will have a truly exciting shopping experience where they can find exclusive items that will really make them stand out from the crowd. Joolz and Jane’s jewellery is young and fun and will provide a great finishing touch to an outfit. Their business is exactly what the site is about - offering something new and different - so I’m delighted that they are joining the growing number of designers who‘ll be using the site.”
Prior to the launch of the site, Fashion Killerz has its own page on Facebook where you can take a sneak preview of some of the awesome items designers will be selling and by becoming a fan, you will be among the first to get updates on newly listed products.
