An enthusiastic team of amateur cyclists from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, led by Production Director Steven Laurie, got on their bikes this morning at the company’s Dunsmuir Park in Kilmarnock, and set off on a trip that will take them along the route of the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Fort William all in a bid to raise over £1,500 for Glasgow’s Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.

It’s a journey that will take the team around two and half days through 96 miles of some of the country’s most beautiful scenery, and see them reach heights of around 14760ft but it’s all for a good cause as Steven adds: “Our team of seven guys has been training hard over the summer months in preparation for this trip. Although a few of us have done the route before, not all have and we felt this was the perfect way to create a group challenge that would also encourage us to get fit.

“We’re not professional, but we’re all keen cyclists and we’re looking forward to the challenge of cycling The West Highland Way. And we hope to be amongst the first cyclists to use the new end to the West Highland Way in Fort William – a part of the route which completes the ‘Routes West’ Fort William town enhancement programme and is officially opened on Saturday with some celebrations in the town centre.”

“We’re raising money for Yorkhill and our target is £1,500 which I know we’re well on our way to achieving. We’re just seven dads, so it’s a charity close to many of our hearts and I’d like to personally thank everyone who has donated so far.”
