Online dating grows 30% in wake of iPad launch

GlobalPersonals.co.uk, the largest privately owned online dating company in Europe, today announced a 30 per cent increase in member subscriptions since the UK launch of Apple’s iPad in May.
iPad users also visit 126 per cent more pages and typically stay on GlobalPersonals.co.uk sites, including Singles365.com and FlirtFix.com, 119 per cent longer than other mobile devices, beating out the iPhone and the iPod Touch.
GlobalPersonals.co.uk is also expecting a rise in ‘Silver Surfer’ dating with this demographic now the fastest growing age group for internet uptake and accounting for 31% of the UK net audience. In response to the latest figures, the company has launched a network dedicated to the over 50’s market under its WhiteLabelDating.com brand and supported by the launch of its own site, DatingAgency.com. The site is being used as a test bed to trial new features and functions to keep up with changing consumer demands.
Steve Pammenter, Director of Partnerships at GlobalPersonals.co.uk comments: “Our experience has proven that the online dating industry is completely reliant on the latest internet trends and technologies available. The Apple iPad and the proliferation of the web by wider audiences like the over 50’s is positive news for the online dating industry as the internet becomes easier to use by all. We are looking forward to welcoming these new members and helping them in their quest for love.”
