Fun day raises money for Tavistock residents association

Community spirit was on display when residents of a Tavistock housing development came together for a fun day.
The fun packed event was held at the Tiddy Brook Meadows new homes development and organised by the Tiddy Brook Tenants and Residents Association in partnership with West Devon Homes Neighbourhood and Communities Team, with support from Redrow Homes.
On a gloriously warm and sunny day residents enjoyed a barbeque, bouncy castles, face painting, children’s fancy dress competitions and raffles. Many prizes were kindly donated by local businesses. Housebuilder Redrow Homes donated its show home furniture for an auction and also provided £400 towards funding the day. A local resident DJ provided the music.
Attended by over 200 residents, community Police, West Devon Homes and Redrow representatives, the afternoon was a great success, raising £200 for Children’s Hospice South West and enough money for a children’s event at Tiddy Brook Meadows later in the year.
Vanessa Randall-Short, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “The event was a great success and it’s wonderful to see such a strong community spirit here at Tiddy Brook Meadows. We were pleased to be able to support the fun day and donate the furniture from our former show home, which was auctioned to raise further funds for the Tiddy Brook Tenants and Residents Association.”
Shelley Martin, neighbourhood and communities assistant for West Devon Homes, said “The residents of Tiddy Brook have worked very hard to make this day a great success. It just shows what can be achieved when a community works together. We will continue to work with and assist the association and everyone at Tiddy Brook Meadows and we look forward to the next event”.
The people of Tiddy Brook joined forces in March of 2009 and formed a community group, which regularly meets to discuss any issues that may be affecting the estate and ways of improving the area. This group, known as the Tiddy Brook Tenant and Residents Association, held the event for the whole neighbourhood to promote community spirit and to celebrate the completion of the prestigious development by Redrow Homes.
The development has provided 231 homes for Tavistock, of which 56 are affordable homes managed by local landlord West Devon Homes.
The Association would like to say a big thank you to the following contributors to this event: Focus, Halfway house Inn, TJ’s Fish & Chips, East Gate Cafe & Brasserie,
Meadowlands, Toymaster, Morrisons, Opulence Skin Care, West Devon Homes, West Devon Homes Tenant Panel, Redrow Homes, Bee Rowley and Sophie Littler (Face Painters), Tavistock Police and all of the residents who helped on the day and donated other prizes.
