HSBC launches HSBC MSCI EM Far East ETF
HSBC continues to expand its range of exchange traded funds (ETFs) with the launch of the HSBC MSCI EM Far East ETF, which carries a highly competitive Total Expense Ratio (TER) of just 0.60%.
HSBC has launched 11 ETFs in Europe and plans to progressively expand the range to offer a complete set of ETFs relevant for the asset allocation needs of most investors. As with all HSBC ETFs launched to date, the HSBC MSCI EM Far East ETF will use ‘physical replication' in tracking its index.
The latest ETF from HSBC offers investors exposure to the performance of the MSCI EM Far East Index, which represents the equity market performance of the largest companies in China (accessed through the Hong Kong market), Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand. This ETF follows the launch of the HSBC MSCI Brazil ETF in July and the HSBC MSCI Pacific ex Japan ETF at the start of September.
The HSBC MSCI EM Far East ETF, is listed on the London Stock Exchange in both GBP and USD trading currencies (Bloomberg tickers: HMFE LN for £GBP / HMFD LN for US$). Further registrations and cross-listings in Europe are planned over the coming months.
Farley Thomas, Head of ETFs at HSBC, said: "Our customers expect us to offer a range of HSBC ETFs that track both developed and emerging market indices. The launch of the HSBC MSCI EM Far East ETF, following on from the launch of the HSBC MSCI BRAZIL ETF earlier this year, is another step towards creating an HSBC ETF range that covers the major emerging markets. Looking ahead we are committed to complementing our developed markets ETFs with a strong range of emerging markets equity ETFs as well as products covering other asset classes."
HSBC announced its entry into the European ETF market in August 2009 with the launch of the HSBC FTSE 100 ETF. Since then, HSBC has added ETFs linked to the EURO STOXX 50, CAC 40, MSCI Japan, FTSE 250, S&P 500, MSCI Europe, MSCI USA, MSCI Brazil and MSCI Pacific ex Japan indices.
Copies of the HSBC MSCI EM Far East ETF supplement will shortly be available for inspection at the Document Viewing Facility of the UK Listing Authority and will also be available on the Company's website at etfs.hsbc.com, where the Simplified Prospectus will also be available.
