First homes unveiled at new development in Birmingham

Birmingham homebuyers will have their first opportunity to secure a new property at the £15 million Lower Parkside phase at Park Central on Saturday 16 October, when developer Crest Nicholson releases the latest collection of apartments and freehold townhouses for sale.
Bordered by Bath Row and Lee Bank Middleway, Park Central is an award-winning development of innovative new homes set around eight acres of landscaped public parkland. The Lower Parkside phase includes 80 contemporary apartments in four individual buildings, together with 27 highly exclusive two, three and four-bedroom townhouses – the only newly-built freehold townhouses currently available in Birmingham city centre.
Crest Nicholson has announced that the launch of the new phase will coincide with the return of HomeBuy Direct at Park Central. For eligible buyers this government assistance scheme reduces the mortgage amount needed to own a new home.
To celebrate the availability of this latest phase of properties, Crest Nicholson is hosting an open weekend at Park Central on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 October. Throughout the weekend, members of the public are invited to visit the development, take a closer look at the individual layouts of the new homes, and take advantage of free independent advice from a financial advisor and HomeBuy Agent.
Jo Parker, sales manager at Park Central, said: “Since we announced that there would be a new £15 million phase of homes at Park Central, the team here has been inundated with enquiries from would-be buyers. With an evident lack of new homes currently under construction in the regional marketplace, the spotlight is certainly on Park Central as an active development that is successfully boosting the choice on offer for today’s purchasers.
“Anecdotal feedback from those who have registered their interest in the Lower Parkside phase suggests that many are keen to secure their selected plots and we therefore anticipate that there will be a real buzz around the launch of this latest collection of properties. With the first apartments and townhouses expected to be ready to move into by November, buyers who act fast could be enjoying the Christmas festivities in a Park Central home on this exciting new phase.”
Each new home at Lower Parkside will come complete with individually-designed kitchens featuring a stainless steel oven, hob and extractor, and integrated appliances. Contemporary bathrooms will feature Hansgrohe mixer taps and stylish Porcelanosa tiling, along with Kaldewai enamelled steel baths and chrome towel rails. All of the homes will be built to high energy efficiency standards; for example, the apartments will have photovoltaic panels on the roofs to generate power for the common areas, which helps to keep household bills to a minimum.
Jo added: “Crest has a proven track record in helping first time buyers and others who face the challenges of buying a new home in a difficult economic climate, and we are would urge those who are interested in the Lower Parkside properties at Park Central to talk to our experienced sales team about how we can help to get them moving. Throughout the open weekend, we will have an independent financial advisor on hand to offer free, confidential advice; and with the return of HomeBuy Direct at Park Central, we are confident that many buyers will see how home ownership is well within their financial reach.”
Eligible purchasers with a household income of less than £60,000 can take advantage of HomeBuy Direct. The initiative sees the government and housebuilder cover up to 15 per cent each or 30 per cent in total of the property price with a loan. This then leaves the buyer with a more affordable mortgage for the remaining 70 per cent. A major benefit of HomeBuy Direct is that the buyer retains 100 per cent ownership of their property.
Elsewhere at Park Central, a selection of one bedroom apartments is currently available in the Upper Parkside phase, with prices starting from just £90,000. Two bedroom apartments are available from £146,500.
