One third of motorists buy tyres online

Price, choice and convenience are the principle reasons why UK motorists are increasingly buying tyres online rather than from high street retailers according to recent research.

The survey of 1000 motorists revealed price as being the most important reason for buying online. Over 80% of respondents indicated that buying online was cheaper and over 70% said it was easier and quicker than more traditional methods: over 50% sited the ability to order from the comfort of home as being important.

The information revealed in a consumer survey undertaken by fastMAP for mytyres.co.uk, one of the UK’s most popular and part of Europe’s leading online tyre retailer Delticom also indicates younger drivers especially are more likely to buy tyres via the internet. Also, men are more likely to purchase tyres online compared to women and more active when looking for the best price, speed of purchase and the choice of tyres.

Following purchase, a growing number of buyers opt for the tyres to be delivered to a tyre fitting outlet partnering the online retailer with customers appreciating the convenience of a fitting service that is both local to them and fully experienced in the tyre replacement business.

“More and more consumers are discovering the benefits of purchasing tyres via the internet,” said Rainer Binder, CEO of Delticom. ”However, there are still a large number of motorists who are not taking advantage of the cost savings and convenience that the internet provides. We will continue to enhance our product offering, which we believe is the best in Europe, to further underline the advantages purchasing online offers consumers.”
