Parents find their perfect property in Oldbury

Bev & Ciaran Murphy settling into their new home at Beresford Grove

The Murphy family were one of the first buyers at Taylor Wimpey’s Beresford Grove development of new homes in Oldbury – and they couldn’t be happier with their brand new place.

When Bev and Ciaran Murphy began the search for a brand new West Midlands property big enough to accommodate their growing family, they didn’t waste any time choosing what they wanted.

They knew their new place had to offer exceptional value for money and great transport links, while giving them plenty of room to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle with their two-year-old son, Connor – and Taylor Wimpey’s Beresford Grove development of houses for sale in Oldbury delivered on all fronts.

After registering their interest early via leading housebuilder’s website, Bev (30) and middle-school teacher Ciaran (35) made sure they could take their pick of the first available properties in Oldbury by attending the development launch earlier this year. They reserved their dream four-bedroom ‘Balmoral’ townhouse the very same day.

“As soon as we saw the development, we knew it was ideal – even though none of the new homes had even been built,” says full-time mum Bev, who is now settled into her new property in Oldbury with her husband and son.

“We had lived in a penthouse apartment in Bromsgrove previously but wanted to move to a larger home because of Connor and to be closer to my family.

“The ‘Balmoral’ was just what we were looking for and we reserved it more or less on the spot. There’s so much space and the location is perfect, with fantastic road, rail and bus links on the doorstep so it’s easy to get into Birmingham, to see the family and to travel to pretty much anywhere we want.”

After becoming one of the first families to reserve at Beresford Grove at the beginning of 2010, the Murphy family made their move to their brand new home in Oldbury in July.

Because they secured their property off-plan, they were able to choose from a wide range of interior options to ensure it was completed to their personal specifications.
Bev and Ciaran opted for a fully upgraded kitchen with fitted units and appliances, as well as a bathroom upgrade plus a host of other handy accessories – all of which were expertly fitted and ready by the time they moved in.

After quickly settling into their new home, the couple are now watching the rest of the properties at Beresford Grove being built and new neighbours moving in around them as the development grows into a community.

“There’s so much happening here and it’s quite interesting to see everything developing around us,” Bev adds.

“The guys on the site are absolutely fantastic and even though there’s a lot of work going on, they make sure disruption is kept to a minimum. We’re really happy in our new home and delighted with how everything has worked out.”

A superb selection of homes is currently available to purchase at Beresford Grove, including stylish two-bedroom apartments from as little as £76,496* with Taylor Wimpey’s Easy Start shared equity scheme, which lets qualifying first-time buyers own 100% of their new home now for just 85% of the purchase price.

Alternatively, magnificent three-bedroom detached houses are priced from only £174,995 at the development while four-bedroom properties are available from just £158,995.

Visitors to Beresford Grove can receive a tantalising taste of what life is like at this exclusive development by taking a look around the exquisitely decorated ‘Balmoral’ showhome, which features a contemporary kitchen/dining room opening through French doors to the landscaped rear garden, with a handy guest cloakroom and an integrated garage completing the ground floor.

Upstairs, the first-floor landing leads to a spacious lounge, a well-appointed study and a bathroom, while the en-suite master bedroom and two further bedrooms comfortably share the top floor.

Home-hunters can also take a look around two-bedroom apartments which are now open for viewings at the development.

Beresford Grove enjoys a handy location less than a mile from Oldbury’s busy town centre, which boasts a wealth of high street shops, pubs and eateries, while a wider range of shopping and leisure facilities can be found in nearby Dudley.

Birmingham city centre lies only five miles from home and can be easily reached by car or public transport, with buses running every 10 minutes and a choice of railway stations with frequent services to Birmingham Snow Hill and New Street all within walking distance of the development.

Commuters will appreciate that Junctions 1 and 2 of the M5 are both only a short drive away, providing quick links to the M6, the M42 and the M40, while the Midland Metro tram link makes journeys to Wolverhampton and Birmingham even easier. For those travelling further afield, Birmingham International Airport is just over 20 miles from Beresford Grove.

Full details of the range of new homes available at the development are available by visiting the Beresford Grove Sales Centre and ‘Balmoral’ showhome, located off Seymour Road, Oldbury, and open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm.
