Save energy at ICON in Street

This week (25th – 31st October), The Energy Saving Trust celebrates its fourteenth Energy Saving Week. The initiative aims to inform households about how they can reduce their carbon footprint and show how significant energy and money savings can be made in the home.

Currently, every household in the UK creates around five and a half tonnes of carbon dioxide every year, twice as much CO2 as the average car and enough to fill one hot air balloon. The average household also spends around £1,200 a year on fuel and power, but wastes around £40 a year just powering goods on standby.

As a sustainable developer, Crest Nicholson recognises the importance of energy efficiency measures and understands and addresses the immediate and longer term challenges posed by climate change. At its ICON development in Street, a number of innovative eco-features have been incorporated, including solar thermal panels, hot water sealed cylinders, powerful roof and floor insulation, heat recovery units and rainwater butts. These features help to save the homeowner money, in addition to cutting down on the amount of energy used.

ICON comprises 138 properties, including one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes. All homes within the development have achieved the EcoHomes Excellent standard in terms of energy efficiency.
