Manston’s flying high with Flybe

27th October 2010 Print

In what is an upbeat message for Manston, Flybe has announced that its flights from Kent's International Airport to Manchester and Edinburgh are now on sale as part of its extensive new 2011 summer schedule.

The airport's CEO Charles Buchanan is delighted: "Fantastic - Flybe is here to stay!

"This is a massive vote of confidence in Manston by the UK's number one domestic airline and confirms its commitment to Kent," he said.

Flybe's flights from Manston to Edinburgh started in May and the Manchester service began in September. Flybe has just published its new schedule, and people can now book low-cost flights from Manston to Manchester and Edinburgh to travel from now right through to September next year."

Charles added: "This means that local people keen to book their summer break next year can now take advantage of the lowest possible fares with one way fares from just £25.99 including taxes and charges, which is incredible value.

"The other benefit is that our passengers have peace of mind when booking with Flybe. A number of airlines have gone bust in the last year but it is one of only three European airlines to have posted a profit in the last financial year.

"With six flights a week to Manchester and daily to Edinburgh, modern aircraft, friendly flight times, allocated seating, great in-flight service and a generous loyalty scheme, Flybe's passengers can get their holiday from Manston off to a flying start."

Charles added that if people are planning a "staycation" holiday in the UK next summer, there's much to see and do in both cities.

"Edinburgh, Scotland's beautiful capital city is just ninety minutes from Manston with Flybe, and it's a superb place for a summer short break or holiday. Attractions range from Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile to the Royal Yacht Britannia, plus excellent shopping and a wonderful menu of events, concerts and festivals including the Military Tattoo, the Edinburgh International Festival and the world-famous Fringe.

"And Manchester is only eighty minutes away from Manston. It's a wonderful city with the warmth, charm and atmosphere of a friendly village. It's the liveliest of places in summer with its exciting, cosmopolitan atmosphere and offers you lots to see and do. Along with top attractions, galleries, museums, superb shopping and stunning Victorian architecture, Manchester is everybody's kind of city."

Flybe's Chief Commercial Officer Mike Rutter adds: "We're pleased to be able to offer passengers to and from Kent the choice of these two routes to Edinburgh and Manchester. Our customers can be assured that, in the current economic climate, Flybe is committed to providing the most convenient, affordable, quality regional travel options with real value-added benefits."
