The Prashar family concoct an unforgettable birthday surprise – a brand new home at Taylor Wimpey’s Beresford Grove development of apartments and houses for sale in Oldbury.

A Black Country mum was given the surprise of a lifetime when her 26-year-old son presented her with a brand new four-bedroom property in Oldbury – as a birthday present!

All that was missing was the gift-wrap when Vishal Prashar unveiled the stunning ‘Balmoral’ townhouse at Taylor Wimpey’s Beresford Grove development of houses and flats for sale in Oldbury to mark Sudesh Rani’s 51st birthday.

Vishal and his father, Kulbhushan Prashar (57), had pooled their resources to purchase the new Oldbury property as an investment for their family.

Living locally, they appreciated that the superb location, exceptional transport links and great-value prices on offer at the Taylor Wimpey development of property for sale in Oldbury gave them an opportunity that was too good to miss.

After moving quickly to snap up their spacious new house in Oldbury, Vishal put the icing on the cake by turning their purchase into a unique gift – ensuring his mother’s special day would never be forgotten.

“Things were moving ahead with the purchase when my son pointed out that his mother’s birthday was coming up – and he had the fantastic idea of giving it to her as a present,” recalls retired steelworker Kulbhushan.

“We asked if we could complete on the day itself and Taylor Wimpey pulled out all the stops to make sure it happened for us.

“When her birthday came, my son and three daughters pretended they were going out for something to eat – but in fact they went round to the new place to get it ready with decorations and a cake.”

Having been convinced she and her husband were simply calling in at a friend’s house on the way to a romantic birthday meal together, Sudesh didn’t suspect a thing as they stepped through the door and the amazing surprise was sprung.

“It took her a little while to realise what was happening and when it finally sunk in, the first thing she said was ‘Do you think we can afford it!’” Kulbhushan laughs.

“Once we had explained everything, she was absolutely delighted and we know she won’t forget that birthday in a hurry!”

Kulbhushan is well known in the local Hindu community, having spent many years as assistant secretary at the Durga Bhawan Temple in Smethwick. He has also helped to raise tens of thousands of pounds for the treatment of disabled people in India by performing with his traditional singing group.

After investing in his family’s future at Beresford Park, he insists he would not hesitate to recommend the development to others.

He says: “Everyone at Taylor Wimpey has been brilliant all the way through, and Della, the Sales Executive, in particular has been fantastic.

“I know the local area very well so I can appreciate that Beresford Grove is in a prime location, with buses, trains and the motorway all close by. The homes here are very good value for money and anyone who is looking for a new home in this area should definitely come and take a look.”

Four-bedroom ‘Balmoral’ townhouses like the one the Prashar family purchased are currently available at Beresford Grove from as little as £158,995, each featuring a light and airy kitchen/dining room opening through French doors to the private rear garden, plus a handy guest cloakroom and an integrated garage completing the ground floor.

Upstairs, the first-floor landing leads to a spacious lounge, a bedroom and a bathroom, while the en-suite master bedroom and two further bedrooms comfortably share the top floor.

Alternatively, four-bedroom ‘Carlton’ terraced townhouses are priced from just £152,995 at the development, three-bedroom detached ‘Brockwell’ houses are available from only £174,995, and stylish two-bedroom apartments are priced from just £76,496 under Taylor Wimpey’s Easy Start shared equity scheme, which lets qualifying first-time buyers secure selected plots now for 85% of the full price.

All new homes at Beresford Grove are completed to a high standard specification, including central heating, double glazing and fitted kitchen with integrated oven, hob
and hood.

As alternatives to the Easy Start scheme, Taylor Wimpey offers help with deposits for first-time buyers and, for those with a home to sell, assistance with finding a buyer for their current property. Incentives can be tailored to customers’ individual circumstances and are subject to availability, with further information available from the Sales Executive.

Beresford Grove enjoys a handy location less than a mile from Oldbury’s busy town centre, which boasts a wealth of high street shops, pubs and eateries, while a wider range of shopping and leisure facilities can be found in nearby Dudley.

Birmingham city centre lies only five miles from home and can be easily reached by car or public transport, with buses running every 10 minutes and a choice of railway stations with frequent services to Birmingham Snow Hill and New Street all within walking distance of the development.

Commuters will appreciate that Junctions 1 and 2 of the M5 are both only a short drive away, providing quick links to the M6, the M42 and the M40, while the Midland Metro tram link makes journeys to Wolverhampton and Birmingham even easier. For those travelling further afield, Birmingham International Airport is just over 20 miles from Beresford Grove.

The Beresford Grove Sales Centre and ‘Balmoral’ showhome are located off Seymour Road, Oldbury, and open Thursday to Tuesday from 10am to 5pm.

Apartments are also available to view at the development.
