The Top Gear Live 2010/11 ‘Prototype’ world tour kicked off in spectacular fashion at London’s Earl Court arena today alongside MPH the Prestige & Performance Motor Show powered by Shell V-Power.  Audiences were on the edge-of-their-seats as the world’s number one automotive theatre production returned with an earth-shattering bang! It packed in more pyro, more noise, more spectacle and far more misbehaviour than ever before.

The brand-new celebration of automotive utopia featured some of the world’s most expensive, powerful and absurdly modified cars.  Stars of the show included the first ever transparent car, Porsches transformed beyond all recognition and an indoor police helicopter in a grand finale shoot-out.

Clarkson, Hammond and May added their infamous banter to the motoring mayhem which started the UK leg of the Top Gear Live 2010/11 World Tour;

“Car stunt shows used to involve standing in rain soaked concrete car parks watching men in branded hats driving round in circles,” said Clarkson. “But Top Gear Live continues to prove that proper theatre with cars is possible and yet again, we’ve pushed the boundaries of car theatre for this ‘Prototype Tour’.

By the time this tour ends in March 2011, the tireless Top Gear Live team will have performed various versions of their arena spectacular to more than 1 million fans worldwide.  For this tour alone the presenters, crew and production team will have their passports stamped a total of 1,340 times between them, get through a total of approximately 940 tyres, 220 clutches, 640 brake pads, 2,000 litres of coolant and approximately a dozen new body panels.

Running in conjunction with the UK leg of the Top Gear Live tour will be MPH the Prestige & Performance Motor Show powered by Shell V-Power which will feature the world’s most exclusive and exciting car names including Aston Martin, Bentley, Caparo, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren, Pagani, Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Spyker.

Tickets for this year’s hottest, fastest, loudest, maddest and possibly even funniest show are running out fast so Top Gear fans should book now at mphshow.co.uk for the UK and topgear.com/live for the rest of the world.
