Barclays Stockbrokers emerging market Autocall Accelerator
Barclays Stockbrokers, UK online execution-only retail broker, has launched a new structured product - the Emerging Markets Autocall Accelerator issued by The Royal Bank of Scotland plc (‘RBS'). The product is available exclusively to Barclays Stockbrokers clients until 15 November 2010.
The Emerging Markets Autocall Accelerator is a five-year fixed term investment offering exposure to the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, with the potential for early redemption after two years. It offers investors the opportunity to receive a return of 20% after two years, if on the Anniversary Date, the MSCI Emerging Markets Index has risen above or remained at the same closing level as the start date of the investment (Starting Index Level).1 If this occurs then the Certificate pays out 20%, plus the return of the original investment.
If after two years the MSCI Emerging Markets Index is below its Starting Index Level, the investment continues for its full five year term. Investors' returns will then be dependent on the performance of the index.
Paul Inkster, Head of Product at Barclays Stockbrokers, said: "For those investors seeking to diversify their portfolios and profit from the potential growth of the emerging markets, this is a great product offering potential 20% return on the second anniversary, provided that the index has risen. If the early maturity is not triggered, the RBS Emerging Markets Autocall Accelerator offers up to 1.5 times any rise in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index at the end of the five years. This investment is ISA and SIPP eligible and so investors are able to invest in a tax-efficient manner."
The MSCI Emerging Markets Index offers investors exposure to countries including Brazil, China, Korea and Taiwan, amongst others, which have stronger growth forecasts than developed economies.
